Thanks to funding provided by The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador (Tourism, Culture, Arts and Recreation), ArtsNL and the continuing support from the Town of Pouch Cove, the Pouch Cove Public Art Committee invited Canadian professional artists to submit an “Expression of Interest” for the outdoor sculpture project. We then shortlisted four artists and invited public comment. On June 2, 2022, the Pouch Cove Public Art Committee selected the artwork, “An Opening in the Canopy”, proposed by Josh Collins, as the sculpture for the Come Home Year 2022 Public Art Project. Josh arrived in Pouch Cove in October to install his artwork. Josh was in town for several weeks, doing the installation and also meeting with the public. He returned to Pouch Cove in the spring to finish the sculpture at which time there was an official ceremony to celebrate the installation
